Meet Lucy Crehan

Author | Speaker | International Education Consultant

Lucy Crehan is a respected international education consultant and author. She began her career teaching Science at a secondary school in London, before becoming disillusioned with the education system and setting off on an ethnographic exploration of six of the world’s highest performing education systems, living with teachers, and teaching and observing lessons in each place. Her aim was to explore the classroom-level effects of system-level policies, and her findings formed the basis for her book, 'Cleverlands: The Secrets Behind the Success of the World's Education Superpowers,' which swiftly earned acclaim, securing its place as one of The Economist's 'Books of the Year' within just one week of its release.

Lucy has continued to build her expertise in this area through the study of other education systems, using a cross-disciplinary lens which draws on her degrees in Psychology, Philosophy and Sociology, from Oxford and Cambridge Universities. She uses this expertise to support national and regional governments and NGOs with education policy design, and to teach policy professionals through her courses on global education policy. She is an Associate Advisor for Curriculum at Swansea University, and teaches on a Masters programme at the University of Buckingham. She regularly speaks at conferences all over the world, and is currently writing a book on curriculum.
